More Dublin Pictures

Friday-Sunday, June 20-22

Friday-Sunday, June 20-22 Weekend in Dublin Well the weather was not the best for our weekend trip to Dublin. We left on Friday and the weather was beautiful when we arrived. We were able to walk around and enjoy the town. When we arrived to Dublin we all got tickets for the hop on/hop off city tour. We started the tour and hopped off at the Guinness storehouse. Our whole group did the Guinness tour. It was a self guided tour and ended with a free pint of Guinness. Saturday was rainy pretty much all day long. We started the day by taking a train to the Harley store. A girl in the group wanted to get her Dad something from the Dublin Harley Store. Then we hopped back on the tour bus and got off at a historic jail (Gaol-is how they spelled it). We did the tour there, which was very interesting. Then we hopped back on the bus and headed back towards downtown. We found some food to eat and rested for a bit. After resting, we walked around enjoying the city at night. On Sunday morning, we packed up and headed back to Galway for our last week in Ireland.

Thursday, June 19

Thursday, June 19 We did a little shopping and then walked to Salthill, the neighboring town. The walk wasn’t bad. I walked with a friend, while Ben took the bus. Ben had to wait an hour before getting on the bus. For some reason the bus was really late. We found a nice place to eat lunch and then just walked around a bit taking photos. Our apartment was hosted a wine and cheese party when we got back. All the students and professors from UWL came and joined in on the fun.

More pictures from the Cliffs of Moher and the Burrens

Wednesday, June 19

Cliffs of Moher and the Burrens Wednesday, June 18 Cliffs of Mohr. The weather was crappy for the first part of our tour. Driving to the cliffs, we got off a couple times to take pictures. One of the stops was an ancient tomb that was 5000 years old. It was pretty interesting. While we were at the cliffs, it rained the entire time. We still got to see some of the cliffs, but not as much as we would have seen had it been sunny out. After the cliffs, we went to the Burrens. It is all rocks. It was neat to walk around and look at. It is amazing to see that one place can have so much rock. There would be no possible way to build a house because of all the rock. After the Burrens we headed back to our apartments. After everyone ate dinner, a large group went out on the town to take photographs.

Tuesday, June 17

Tuesday, June 17 Ben and I took the train to Athenry today. It was about a 15 minute train ride. The town is the most mid-evil town in Ireland. We got to see a castle and look and many other ruins. The town was very small. We walked around a bit and found a place to eat. Ben had a chicken meal and I had a sandwich. It was a ton of food. Very good.

Monday, June 16

Monday, June 16 We just bummed around town today. Took some pictures inside of the cathedral. The playoff of the US Open was on and Ben wanted to find a place to watch it. We found a pub and watched the entire playoff match. It was pretty intense. There were many locals that were watching it as well. One of the locals is a bookie and was asking us if we wanted to bet. It was a good time.
